Friday Reader Spotlight!

Last Friday I kicked off the first Friday Reader Spotlight. Every Friday, I will post the cards and projects that have been emailed to me or uploaded to the blog's Facebook page during that week. Submissions have to feature at least one Lettering Delights product. To show my appreciation, I will hold a drawing at the end of the month and everyone who has submitted a project during that month will be entered to win a $10 Lettering Delights gift certificate. Each card submitted will be counted as an entry so that if you submit two cards, you'll have two chances to win and so on.

Here are today's readers' cards and projects:
---

Anyone who's ever read this blog would know that I love shaped cards. They look so different from the standard rectangular cards and yet are so easy to make. All you need is Make-the-Cut's Shadow Layer and Welding tools. If you have not follow my Shaped Card tutorial, do give it a shot. You'll be amazed by how easy it is.

Terri Honz (It's in the Ink!) followed my tutorial and made her own penguin card with the DB Animal Occasions doodlebat. She even went one step further and embossed the chest for a different look.

There are so many possibilities with shaped cards. Just look at this card that Linda Vanorio sent to me. Isn't she clever to have the card take the shape of a part of the flower?

Linda made this card using Make-the-Cut and the Print-and-Cut technique. I'll let her tell you what she used to make her card:

"This is my first Print and Cut Card (PNC) with my new Black Cat Cougar. And it is totally PNC.
- I used Lettering Delights Mulberry Lane Too SVG Set,
- Also used Paintshop Elements 9 to determine RGB color value of the green,
- Printed Out on my HP 7500A Wide Fomat Printer the Flower, Flower Parts and Base Card, and Wording,
- The Shaped Card to match flower is courtesy of your Under the Cherry Tree Blog's wonderful Shaped Card tutorial,
- Then cut the Flower, Flower Parts, and Shaped Card with my new Black Cat Cougar,
- Embossed with Big Shot using CuttleBug and Sizzix Emblossing Folders,
- Twine by Divine Twine.
- Button, Stampin Up."

I can't get over how cute Lindsey Pflum's card is. This is what she says,

"I used the LD New York SVGs to make this apple shaped card, I found the skyline by searching on Google. I can't find stickles so I used the Martha Stewart glitter glue to make the windows on the buildings, apple stem, taxi lights, and torch."

Lindsey also made this framed project by using the skyscrapers from the Lettering Delights SVGs. She cut the buildings out on vinyl and applied them to a floating frame. I really like her idea of leaving room at the top for other souvenirs such as a metropass.

Last but not least, I want to give a special mention to a very special blog reader. Alyssa found out about my call for submissions late in the evening but that did not stop her from sending pictures of her four projects including one that won the Lettering Delights' February Creativity Challenge.

Congratulations, Alyssa!

This is Alyssa's winning entry. She used the Monster Love SVG to make this super adorable card. Click here to read more about how she made it.

Here are Alyssa's other super cute projects and these are the svg sets that were used to make the projects: Frogs and Kisses, Sweet Nothings Gift Card Holders, and Programmed for Love SVGs.
